The SMD-2 satellite modem developed by C-DOT is designed to operate from very low data rates to 2 Mbps to meet the requirmentss of all data broadcast applications. The modem is IESS308/309/310 compliant and fully user programmable. Standard data interfaces like RS-422, RS-232 and V.35 provided.
Modulation schemes include BOSK, QPSK and 8PSK. FEC schemes include Rate 1/2 and Rate 3/4 convolution encoder/Viterbi decoder for BPSK and QPSK, Rate 2/3 PTCM for 8PSK. Programmable Read-Solomon code is provided as outer coding. Interface provided for external 10 MHz reference to synchronize the modem with Converters.
